I spent an evening up at Hyalite reservoir last night trying out the timelapse function on my Canon 7d. It was a full moon so I was hoping for some night light off the mountains and snow. I got some dramatic images but the sky is blue even though it was a couple of hours after sunset. Not sure why this is, if you know leave a comment. I’ll do some internets research in the mean time. Notice the stars in the upper right hand corner of the frame and the moonlight (even though it looks like daytime) on the trees. This is actually two different time and exp settings on the camera combined into one clip one after the other. It was a fun way to spend the evening though and I’m learning about Timelapse too.

I’ve got the thumbnail thing working so if you want to see a larger version of a pic, just click on it. I’ve taken a lot of pics but not nearly as many as I should have. I also didn’t edit other than to resize. It’s all about speed with this.

Nobel speech

12/10/09 21:48

I found this section of President Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech particularly insightful and unexpected:

But the world must remember that it was not simply international institutions – not just treaties and declarations – that brought stability to a post-World War II world. Whatever mistakes we have made, the plain fact is this: The United States of America has helped underwrite global security for more than six decades with the blood of our citizens and the strength of our arms. The service and sacrifice of our men and women in uniform has promoted peace and prosperity from Germany to Korea, and enabled democracy to take hold in places like the Balkans. We have borne this burden not because we seek to impose our will. We have done so out of enlightened self-interest – because we seek a better future for our children and grandchildren, and we believe that their lives will be better if others’ children and grandchildren can live in freedom and prosperity.
